NO Petrol without Pollution Certificate in Petrol Pumps In Odisha, New Scheme

Odisha has brought a new rule to reduce air pollution from vehicles. Now, petrol pumps in the state should not give petrol or diesel to any vehicle that does not have a valid Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC).

What Is PUCC?

PUCC is a small certificate that shows your vehicle’s smoke level is within the allowed limit.Every bike, car, auto, bus and truck must have it as per the Motor Vehicles Act and rules.

New Rule: No Fuel Without Pollution Certificate

The State Transport Authority (STA) has told all oil companies and petrol pumps in Odisha that:

  • Fuel must be given only after checking the PUCC of the vehicle.
  • If the certificate is missing or expired, petrol/diesel should be refused.
  • Petrol pump staff must be properly trained to check PUCC and follow this rule.

Why Has This Been Done?

  • Many vehicles were running on the road without PUCC.
  • These vehicles release more harmful smoke, which is bad for the environment and public health.
  • The government wants cleaner air, safer roads, and better respect for pollution laws.

What Vehicle Owners Should Do

  • Check if your PUCC is still valid.
  • If it has expired, go to an authorised pollution checking centre and renew it immediately.
  • Always keep the certificate with you when you go to fill fuel.

In simple words: No PUCC = No petrol or diesel.
So, to avoid problems at petrol pumps and to help keep the air clean, make sure your vehicle’s pollution certificate is up to date.
