1. Academic Qualification Pathways
Under Rule 6 of the OES (School Branch) Recruitment Rules, 2019, candidates must satisfy any one of the following academic pathways:
- Pathway 1: Bachelor’s Degree in Arts, Science, or Commerce PLUS Master’s Degree in Education (M.Ed) or Master’s Degree in Arts (Education) [M.A. (Education)] with basic computer knowledge.
- Pathway 2: Master’s Degree (M.A. / M.Sc. / M.Com) in Arts, Science, or Commerce PLUS Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed) with basic computer knowledge.
- Pathway 3: Integrated B.A. (Hons.) B.Ed. or B.Sc. (Hons.) B.Ed. from a Regional College of Education (RCE) PLUS a Master’s Degree in Arts or Science with basic computer knowledge.
The B.Tech Exclusion Rule
The department has clarified that a B.Tech degree is strictly not accepted as a Bachelor’s Degree in Science for OES recruitment. Candidates possessing B.Tech + M.Ed are therefore ineligible unless they possess a conventional B.Sc. or regular M.Sc. degree.
2. Computer Literacy Standards & OS-CIT Approval
Candidates must possess certified basic computer proficiency. Vide Electronics & IT Department Notification No. 435/E&IT, the government has recognized the following credentials:
- OS-CIT (Odisha State Certificate in Information & Technology) conducted by Odisha Knowledge Corporation Limited (OKCL).
- Degree or Diploma in Computer Applications (DCA / PGDCA) from a recognized University or affiliated institution.
- NIELIT ‘O’ Level or higher computer certifications.
3. Age Limit & Relaxation Rules (As on 01.01.2026)
The reference benchmark date for age calculation is fixed as 1st January 2026:
